Traditional apulian restaurant in the little internal streets of Gallipoli. Romantic. Good quality/price ratio. Good portions. Spaghetti con vongole are just like my grandmother cooks them, white wine and prezzemolo, easy but delicious. They have few but good vegetarian options. We just went here spontaneously without booking.
Not one bad thing to say about this place. Prices are fair, food is exceptional and service was also impeccable. Get here before 12:30pm to ensure availability without a reservation. The calamari over carmelized onions was particularly out of this world! Hands down the best traditional meal in Gallipoli.
We enjoyed fresh air outside with very good service ! Everyone were kind and trying their best to communicate even though nobody spoke good enough english. Prices are fair and quality of fish we ate were amazing! It’s pretty authentic and among all the places around; we didn’t feel this place to be overpriced or tourist trap at all. Will Recommend it 👍
Extraordinary experience! The quality of the food as well as the service impeccable. Vine suggested and served perfectly paired with the dashes. Definitive come back.
Was recommended Osteria Sant' Angelo by one of the souvenir shops opposite the church nearby. Very cosy back street. Welcomed by a very service minded waiter. Friendly, gave good information about the meal and the raw material. Was recommended the fish of the day-grilled ricciola, a taste not far from sword fish-spada. Perfectly prepared-so also the mixed grilled vegetables-zucchini-aubergine-red beet. Ordered also grilled octopus arms-polpo- as a starter. Very tender and also perfectly grilled. The white wine of the house from Campania was very fruity and with good body, Fair price. I will not bother myselves looking for another place next time in Gallipoli.
What a disappointment! We were looking forward to having a nice lunch but run across one of the worst tourist traps we have ever experienced. Our server, a short guy with glasses needs to find another job. The worst server we ever experienced and we are very easy going. Bread was old and even soaked in (questionable) olive oil (not from region) you couldn‘t eat it. Took care of it self because the waiter pulled the plate away while I was eating… Fish- dry boring and far from fresh. Vongole- mussels dry and the shrimps overcooked or frozen. They then add 6 Euro on the bill for service ( non existing), bread (was taken away) and water ( we declined). No hard feelings but if you don‘t like tourists you should be in another business. We moved on and had a wonderful meal tonight!
We stumbled upon this place and had the best dinner of our holidays. The food was fresh, well prepared and delicious, the presentation was with attention to detail. Also the service was very attentive and friendly. The whole place gives a fine dining atmosphere in the best sense, although the prices were really fair.
Very tasty fish food in the Old Town of Gallipoli. The Osteria seems to have rebranded or changed owners quite recently, and the location itself has been renovated too. We were a bit skeptical at first to try it, due to some of the "bad" reviews, but as it came recommended by our host in town, we decided to give it a go. We were absolutely not disappointed! The food was tasty and the service attentive. The atmosphere was on the relaxed side, but all tables were occupied, so having a reservation seems to be important (at least for dinners)
